Hylocereus "Connie Mayer" was created by the German collector Eckhard Meier and is the result of the intersection of two Hylocereus, H. undatus, a plant cultivated in tropical and subtropical areas (white flowers as large as 25 cm in diameter and 30 cm long) and H. stenopterus, plant native to Costa Rica, with smaller flowers (12 cm long and 15 cm in diameter) but a beautiful red-purple.
